Cool Link for Intermediate grades

Hey everyone, I just wanted to pass on this link to a cool site I found. It's titled for fifth grade, but I bet some of the activities could be used for 3rd or 4th grade. Some of the games are internet based and could maybe be used as a station for different subject areas.

New Blog

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been posting a whole lot lately. I've actually been working on another blog with my after school program, the Delaware Boys Club. The guys are working hard on videos and pictures each week; it's pretty exciting. Check it out if you want.

Hi everyone, I hope we all survived today all right. It's always hard to be at school on a make up day knowing you can be home doing something else. Anyway, if anyone is doing an work with Washington or Lincoln, I've found a couple of sites that might be of interest.

One is called www.apples4theteacher.com

click on holidays and then follow the link to President's Day. There is plenty on Washington and Lincoln.

Also, DLTK has some great craft ideas, coloring sheets, and word searches for the holiday.

Reading Tests

So maybe I'm just behind on the times, but if any of you haven't used the test generator from the reading series it might be worth your time to check it out. You can pick and choose what you would like to put on your test. It even makes a passage in which you kids can write a prompt to. I've used it as both a reading test and ISTEP prep.

Hello and Welcome Back

Hello Delaware. It's been a while since I've blogged, but the blog is back. I hope everyone is back into the swing of things after winter break. We have a lot of important events coming up at Delaware. Acuity is wrapped up and the first part of Spring ISTEP begins in about 5 weeks.

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so I am going to post a link to a craft page on the DLTK site. Some are pretty involved, but there are also plenty of printable crafts we could have our students do to have something special to take home.

Christmas Tree Geometry Craft

Hi again. I found a cool craft on DLTK if you need something last minute for this week. It is a Christmas tree that students make from different geometric shapes. This is so good for the lower grade levels working on shape recognition all the way up to 5th grade where we are finding the area of triangles to lines of symmetry.

Acuity and Happy Holidays

Hi everyone, the Christmas party was fun this afternoon. It's so much fun to get together with everyone outside of school, even if we do talk about school a lot.

I also wanted to share some Acuity stuff, and it's not a secret by any means. Some of you all may already be doing this. If you log in to your Acuity account, you can view how your class did by standard and even by indicator. Then there is an option to assign work to students by indicator or standard.

It does take some time to do this, but I think it is really worth it. Then if you have a period per week to devote to it, you could take your class to the computer lab and students could do an Acuity assignment or two. They log in to their accounts and the assignments are under the Study button.

My kids actually like doing their acuity work when we have a chance to get it in. For students in special education, the computer will even read the problem aloud so you can hook up headphones to their computer when they work.

Just thought I'd pass that along, it's another great way to use our computer lab if you have the time.
